I don’t speak Spanish. Will I be able to get by in Costa Rica?
Yes, you can enjoy a trip to Costa Rica while speaking English the entire time. However, if you’ve always wanted to learn or practice Spanish, now is the time. Interaction with “ticos” can be a highlight of the trip. All employees of Sol Encounter are fluent in Spanish and will assist with language at every opportunity.

What type of food is available?
The basis of the Costa Rican diet is rice and beans. Or beans and rice. However, many different countries and the culinary tastes of these countries have influenced Costa Rica. Italian, French, Indian, Mexican, Chinese and seafood can be found next to typical Costa Rican plates. Eating food from restaurants and hotels is not a problem, but eating food from street vendors should be avoided.

Who will be on the trip with me?
Sol Encounter caters to an adventure-seeking crowd that enjoys the comforts of a good meal and quality lodging. Many days involve adventurous and sometimes strenuous activity and are not suitable for children. In fact, some activities such as river rafting have a minimum age requirement. A typical client is one who also prefers the intimacy of a small group setting with many optional activities. You may find singles, couples, professionals, extreme sport junkies, first-time travelers and anyone else looking for an exotic adventure and an open mind to learn about other cultures and people.

What are the tour group sizes?
The size of a group can vary from 8-14 people. This means that there is plenty of conservation, a diverse crowd and personal attention from your adventure guide. Custom trips, of course, can accommodate any size groups.

What do I do if I’m traveling alone, without a companion?
You’ll still have a wonderful time! If you’re traveling alone (and many people prefer to do so) and don’t want to pay extra for single bookings at hotels, we’ll match you up with a traveling partner. Same sex only, of course.

Yes, the minimum age is 18, for two reasons. First, some of the excursions are only suitable for adults due to the amount of exertion or the strength needed. Second, Sol Encounter, S.A. is geared towards people who want the adventure of a foreign country, but appreciate nice lodging, good food and the chance to meet like-minded individuals. We believe this is best accomplished with a more mature group. Once again, custom trips can accommodate any size or age.
