What's Included and What to ExpectWhat's IncludedA Sol Encounter, S.A. trip includes all lodging during the course of the trip. We have purposefully chosen higher quality accommodations that offer a variety of amenities for your comfort. Likewise, all transportation between trip destinations and along guided tours is included. Airfare to Costa Rica is not included. To find the best airfare, book a ticket early, especially if traveling during the holiday seasons. We are happy to advise on the best methods to achieve an economical airfare, contact info@solencounter.com. Food
and non-alcoholic beverages are included at hotel restaurants or restaurants
chosen by Sol Encounter for their superiority and quality of cuisine.
All breakfasts are included, and about two-thirds of all lunches and
dinners are included. While it would be easy
for Sol Encounter to have an all-inclusive meal plan, we believe that
the chance to spend a romantic dinner with a loved one or explore new
tastes is a better option. Whenever, a meal is not provided by Sol Encounter,
the guides will have many recommendations and
suggestions for restaurants. With the exception of several meals, alcoholic
beverages and snacks will not be included.
All activities that are mentioned in the trip itineraries are included with the exception of a few of the optional activities. These activities include National Park entrance fees, guided excursions and rental equipment for guided segments. In general, most day activities from sunrise to sunset will be included. Several days are less structured than others, please see itineraries, and during these unstructured days, activities are not included in the price of the trip unless otherwise stated. We encourage you to bring down spending cash for shopping excursions, optional activities and to enjoy the many nightlife activities. What to Expect Sol Encounter trips are designed to showcase the natural, cultural and adventurous side of Costa Rica while providing quality accommodations. Many activities such as white water rafting require a certain degree of exertion and are suitable for adults only. You should expect to spend several hours each day exploring rainforest trails, floating down rivers or learning to surf. For this reason, all trips are designated as 18 years of age or older. Don’t worry; there will also be plenty of time to soak in the sights of lava running down a volcano while immersed in a thermal pool or relaxing at the beach. Week long tours that are scheduled from sun up to sun down can sometimes began to feel too structured. At Sol Encounter, we realize that you
are on vacation and want to give you options during your trip. While many activities are structured, there will be ample opportunity to decide
on a day’s outing. For example, at the beach you may be able to choose between sea kayaking, surfing, hiking or just lounging around. In similar
fashion, about a third of the meals are not included in the trip. During these times, your guides will be able to point you in the direction of
seafood, typical Costa Rican dishes or perhaps a local market for fresh fruit. We understand that autonomy on a trip is important and can increase
your appreciation for Costa Rica and its’ people.
Expect to be in the company of at least two experienced guides the entire trip. Your guides have all lived in Costa Rica, or were born there, are fluent in English and Spanish and knowledgeable on flora, fauna and little known Costa Rican attractions. Sol Encounter is a small company and the trip leaders are the foundation of the company. The small group of employees has all worked together and has experiences ranging from professional mountaineer guides, to countrywide adventure program directors, to expedition leaders. At least one of your guides will be medically trained as an EMT or Wilderness First Responder to provide assistance if necessary. Transportation throughout the country will be comfortable, reliable and safe. Expect to ride in a 24 passenger Coaster Bus on the main highways of
Costa Rica-plenty of room for luggage on the inside. For hard-to-reach places, mini-vans and four-wheel drive vehicles will be used.
Please be aware that unforeseen circumstances can rearrange the schedule of a trip. While Costa Rica is a politically stable country, it lies in the heart of the tropics, thus having a weather pattern that can govern a day. If a river is too high due to rain, we may have to postpone a raft trip or change rivers. Understand that we will accommodate the best that we can if an unforeseen circumstance occurs. We have lived in Costa Rica for years and understand the nuances and how to change a bad weather day into a different incredible experience. |
